Georgia

The past two weeks I have been on leave and with the due date for the trek up Kilimanjaro drawing closer (at an alarming rate) I decided to focus on my mental training in addition to my physical training. This has entailed being at the gym between 5.30 and 6 am on a cold morning. I wish I could tell you that I bounced out of bed and rushed to the gym with the same enthusiasm that I have witnessed Katya and Georgia move around their enclosures. Katya is especially entertaining when she decides to eliminate shrubs in her enclosure, a truly wonderful and funny sight to behold. So, at the moment I am doing gym 3x a week, cardio twice a week and I started yoga again to improve my flexibility.

Earlier this month I attended an incredible retreat that included meditation and various breathing exercises. I am now trying to meditate for 10 – 20 minutes a day and practice controlling the breath. As I am quite claustrophobic I am a little worried that as the volume of air decreases the higher I go I might get a bit panicky. To combat this, I want to have the mediation and breathing exercises to help me relax and re-focus on my goal.

With 9 weeks to go, I would like to thank everyone who has so generously donated towards the cause. In my next blog, I will share the total amount raised for Emoya to date.

Please don’t forget to email you banner designs to me on 3ajlee@gmail.com, we have extended the closing date is 27 July.

Until next time,

Mandy
